Classes in Alexandra were disrupted when teachers stopped teaching in support of colleagues experiencing leadership problems, the Gauteng education department said.

Department spokesperson Charles Phahlane said yesterday: "There are concerns at Alexandra High School which relate to leadership issues that I cannot elaborate on."

Teaching was disrupted yesterday at the Alexandra, Minerva, Kwa Bhekilanga, Eastbank and Realogile high schools.

Phahlane emphasised that this was not a school boycott. He said efforts were being made to restore teaching. - Sapa
