Bojanala Platinum covers five local municipalities: Rustenburg, Moses Kotane, Madibeng, Moretele and Kgetleng Rivier.

Rustenburg is one of the nine South African cities hosting the World Cup, with the matches scheduled for the refurbished Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Phokeng.

A spokesperson for the sports section of the Bojanala Platinum municipality, Innocent Sirovha, said they were preparing themselves for a big celebration.

"Our executive mayor, councillor Raymond Motsepe, is excited about the World Cup fever gripping our country and felt we should organise the 30 days countdown celebration," Sirovha said.

"The initial plan was to stage it at the Fields College (the official fan park for the World Cup), but the facility is not ready due to refurbishments, so we will announce the venue before the end of this week."

l After winning the Bojanala Platinum Mayoral Cup to create awareness of the World Cup, Letlhabile Junior Chiefs are now eyeing promotion to the SAB Regional League.

Representing Paraguay in this tournament, Chiefs defeated Phatsima All Stars 5-4 on penalties in Rustenburg at the weekend. All Stars adopted Brazil.
