2010 can unite South Africans

I HAD the privilege of being in Ghana when they hosted the Afcon finals. The camaraderie and patriotism of the proud Ghanaians is worth emulating.

We have the privilege of hosting an even bigger sporting event. All South Africans should put aside their differences and wholeheartedly support the tournament.

Just as previous sporting events united us, we have a unique opportunity to unite further and build a South African identity and companionship that has never existed. Hoist flags on our cars, houses, places of work and so on. Encourage each other to wear Bafana or any country's paraphernalia.

This is the one chance to let our anger subside and really propel the country towards unity, racial tolerance and patriotism.
