DRAMA queen Khanyi Mbau has boundaries after all. Yesterday, nosey media types could not wait to see Mbau making a grand entrance with her three-year-old daughter Khanukani.

To their disappointment, Mbau rocked up solo an hour before the festivities to celebrate the fourth year of Great Expectations, an e.tv parenting programme.

She told the producers she was going shopping and would return at 11am, 30 minutes before the party started.

Though she had confirmed earlier that she would bring her child, she said she had changed her mind because she didn't want to expose her daughter to "this media madness".

Mbau was among the celebrities who were invited to bring their babies for the live fourth birthday show.

The only celebrity who showed up with her baby was Lorcia Cooper, who brought her cute three-year-old daughter.

Mbau said she and her former husband, Mandla Mthembu, were still in a custody battle and she did not want to jeopardise her case.

"Things are very dicey at the moment because of the problems with her father. The fact that Khanz is mine means that she is not your ordinary kid.

"It means she is also a celebrity. It would be unfair to put her in the media spotlight at this tender age."

Mbau said she sometimes she felt guilty about her lifestyle as a party animal while her baby was at home with her mother.

"Sometimes I leave functions early because I feel guilty and less of a mother because I don't spend enough time with Khanz."

Great Expectations, hosted by Sam Cowen and Philicity Reeken, airs Mondays to Wednesdays at 11.30am.
