JSE shares edged lower on Friday, with Arcelor Mittal falling more than 3percent after CE Lakshmi Mittal said higher iron ore prices would trigger volatility in the steel industry.

JSE shares edged lower on Friday, with Arcelor Mittal falling more than 3percent after CE Lakshmi Mittal said higher iron ore prices would trigger volatility in the steel industry.

The rand fluctuated between 7,3100-7,3800 during the session, initially rallying as hopes of an imminent aid package for Greece helped boost risk appetite, before retreating as uncertainties about the financial aid crept back in.

JSE's blue-chip Top-40 index fell 0,34% to 25629,93, putting it down a little more than 1% for the week. The index is up just 2,5% so far this year.

The All-Share index edged down 0,3% to 28635,76.
