ONE of South Africa's revered sport personalities, Natalie du Toit, has urged the Rainbow Nation to rally round Bafana Bafana during the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

ONE of South Africa's revered sport personalities, Natalie du Toit, has urged the Rainbow Nation to rally round Bafana Bafana during the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

Du Toit is also putting her neck on the block that South Africa will silence the "doubting Thomases" because the World Cup will be a roaring success.

"When I was in Abu Dhabi recently for the Laureus Awards, I was stunned by the amount of enthusiasm and excitement from people out there about the World Cup that is coming to our shores," Du Toit said.

"This is a wonderful time for our country. It is our time to shine and we will shine. We also say good luck to the Local Organising Committee and other people who worked tirelessly to bring this tournament home. Good luck to my favourite Bafana Bafana and we will support you through and through," added the Cape Town-based multiple world champion, who became the first amputee to qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.

Her sentiments were echoed by double amputee Oscar "Blade Runner" Pistorius, who has already bought his Bafana replica jerseys for the World Cup.

"Bafana Bafana have the biggest moment to show the world how special they are. The entire country is behind you and the world is watching," Pistorius said.

"There is no bigger chance to define your career as a sportsman. Go out there and surprise the world with your guts and determination. When times get tough, always remember that you have 44 million South African fans, including me, behind you. We will be wearing the Bafana Bafana jerseys."

World-renowned swimmer Roland Schoeman is also upbeat about Bafana and South Africa delivering a great World Cup.

"I've never been this excited about a sporting event in South Africa, so I will be wearing my Bafana Bafana jersey with pride and dignity during the tournament.

"As swimmers we showed at the Olympic Games, World Championships and Commonwealth Games that no challenge is too great," Schoeman said.
