BIDVEST Wits midfielder Sibusiso Mahlangu says they are eager to do well in the Nedbank Cup to make amends after a frustrating campaign in the Premiership last season.
The Students take on National First Division (NFD) campaigners Thanda Royal Zulu in a last-16 match at Milpark Stadium tomorrow.
Kickoff is at 3pm.
Mahlangu said they cannot afford to underestimate the Durban club, considering that some top-flight clubs were knocked out of Ke Yona by teams from the NFD.
"We have learnt from our match against Nathi Lions (who are campaigning in the NFD) in the last-32 stage of this competition that these clubs are not easy to beat. We need to be more disciplined and focused to guard against any disappointment," Mahlangu told Sowetan yesterday.
"I believe we stand a good chance to advance to the next stage but it will not be an easy task. But we really need to do well in this Cup after our disappointing run in the league last season."
Roger de Sa's side will rely on the likes of Mark Haskins, Marawaan Bantam and Tefu Mashamaite to overcome Sammy Troughton's charges tomorrow.
"We have planned well for them after we watched their match against Lions. I have warned my players to play as a team rather than as individuals," Troughton said.
Troughton hopes the likes of Reason Chiloane, Lucky Mzizi and Solomon Mathe will have the poise to beat their Premiership opponents on the day.
Meanwhile, the last-16 Nedbank Cup match between Winnerspark and Mpumalanga Black Aces billed for Sunday has been moved from the University of Limpopo to Seshego Stadium.
This after the university's pitch was declared unfit to host the match.
The match starts at 3pm.
