THE Independent Complaints Directorate have arrested a Vereeniging warrant officer for allegedly shooting and killing a female colleague.

ICD spokesperson Moses Dlamini said the incident took place on Sunday at a tavern near the policeman's home in Evaton. "The accused arrived home in a marked police vehicle to find another car parked in front of his gate. He went inside his house and came out a few minutes later and proceeded to the tavern across the road.

"While at the tavern, he alleged that someone attacked him with a bottle from behind. Gun shots were fired that left his colleague dead."

He has appeared in court and was released on warning. He will appear again on May 24.
