JOHANNESBURG police have arrested a man for allegedly robbing an MTN store in Fordsburg.

JOHANNESBURG police have arrested a man for allegedly robbing an MTN store in Fordsburg.

"It is alleged that three suspects entered the MTN store, which sells cellphones and airtime," Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele said yesterday.

"One of the suspects bought airtime, while his accomplices produced firearms."

The men forced the cashier to open the safe and took an undisclosed amount of money.

This happened on Wednesday at 10am.

The robbers ran out of the shop and got into a getaway vehicle.

"Security guards saw suspects running out of the store but one suspect did not jump into the car."

He was followed and arrested for robbery and being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. - Sapa
