KWAZULU-NATAL jailbreaker and hijack kingpin Thilili Mzimela is being kept at a secret maximum security prison to prevent him from making his 10th dash for freedom.
Provincial correctional services spokesperson Nokuthula Zikhali yesterday declined to reveal the centre where Mzimela is being kept.
Zikhali said they were confident that three other prisoners who escaped from the Westville correctional facility in February with Mzimela would be recaptured.
Mzimela was among the eight inmates who escaped from Durban's Westville Prison in February. Police sources allege that Mzimela has a string of contacts from prison officials and senior police officers who allegedly assisted him and his crew in their escape.
Police netted him in Paulpietersburg on Saturday - less than 48 hours after he had allegedly hijacked a couple at gunpoint in Newcastle with his gang.
