POLICE Minister Nathi Mthethwa has nailed his colours to the mast with sharp criticism of ANC Youth League president Julius Malema's recent conduct.

Malema is scheduled to face the ANC disciplinary committee next week for attacking President Jacob Zuma, and ignoring instructions of the ANC NEC barring its members from singing Ayesab' amagwala.

Malema is also charged with undermining Zuma and the ANC executive with his vitriol against slain AWB leader Eugène Terre'Blanche.

Addressing a Freedom Day rally in Newcastle, Mthethwa said cadres who spoke out of turn were undermining the revolutionary movement and its objectives.

"There's no revolutionary movement that can ever win any war if its cadres are ill-disciplined. Cadres must know when to speak and when not to speak and especially when the president of the ANC has spoken, nobody is allowed to speak thereafter."

This was something that needed to be "instilled in young people", Mthethwa said.

Mthethwa's criticism of Malema is in contrasts with the fact that he was nominated for Zuma's cabinet by the ANCYL.

Mthethwa has since lost favour with the ANCYL due to reported strained relations with Fikile Mbalula.
