A case in point is when they release a new generation vehicle.
Whereas some manufacturers might do a tweak here and there - requiring the use of a magnifying glass to spot the difference to its predecessor - Renault go the whole hog.
They are not afraid to throw caution to the wind ... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but at least you aren't left guessing. It's a case of "go big or go home!"
Well that's the impression I get with the new Megane hatch.
From the front the long sloping bonnet and squat stance gives it a no-nonsense look, and from behind its wide shoulders promise and deliver in equal measure.
To complement that aggressive look you have attractive-looking 16-inch alloy wheels, tinted windows and a tilt-slide sunroof.
When it comes to the latest in technology, Renault are never far off the mark and the Megane gets most boxes ticked. On offer you have keyless entry coupled with a push start-stop button to fire up the mightily impressive 1,4-litre engine.
A GPS navigation system is a handy piece of equipment and comes as a standard feature, as does cruise control, automatic lights and windscreen wipers.
The 1400cc engine produces enough grunt in 96kW and has a claimed 0-100kmh time of 9,6 seconds, while it has a top speed of 200kmh.
Unfortunately, though, it does tend to swallow the juice pretty quickly and their claimed 6,5 litres per 100km is pretty optimistic. I got closer to the 9 litres per 100km mark, which is a tad high for a car this size.
