Mashaba takes charge of Under-23s

EPHRAIM Mashaba will be unveiled this week as the new coach of the South African Under-23 side for the 2012 London Olympics.

EPHRAIM Mashaba will be unveiled this week as the new coach of the South African Under-23 side for the 2012 London Olympics.

Sowetan can reveal that "Shakes" Mashaba has already signed on the dotted line with Safa and will rejoin the team.

His contract with the Swaziland national team will end in June.

Mashaba was seen at Safa headquarters on Monday. He was offered a contract by Safa technical committee convener Fanyana Sibanyoni.

Sibanyoni said the matter will be discussed at a Safa management committee meeting today .

Kenny Ndlazi and Fani Madida have emerged as favourites for the position of Mashaba's assistant.

Meanwhile, Khabo Zondo is set to replace Serame Letsoaka as coach of Amajita.

Maqsood Chenia will be his assistant.
