Tourism to boost locals

COMMUNITIES should participate meaningfully in the multi-million rand tourism industry for their economic development.

This is the view of the newly appointed chief executive of Limpopo Tourism and Parks, Robert Tooley.

He was speaking at a ceremony to mark his appointment outside Marble Hall in Sekhu-khune on Friday.

Tooley, an agricultural economist, vowed to fast-track the process of getting communities living next to nature reserves in the province to benefit from the facilities.

"We are currently working with the Majeje community in Phalaborwa and Mokopane to establish a hotel.

"We also have the Masebe Nature Reserve where we are paving ways for the local people to participate meaningfully in."
