4 managers sent on leave

FOUR senior managers of the troubled Msunduzi council have been granted special leave.

FOUR senior managers of the troubled Msunduzi council have been granted special leave.

Deputy municipal managers Kevin Perumal, Zwe Hulane and Roy Bridgemohan and senior manager Frances Grantham, were granted special leave as part of the cleanup of the municipality.

Administrator Johann Mettler confirmed last Friday that the four had been placed on leave. He said they were expected to respond to the allegations against them.

There was growing speculation that the officials would be sacked following an announcement by KwaZulu-Natal Premier Zweli Mkhize last Thursday that they should resign.

Mayor Zanele Hlatshwayo and the council's executive members recently stepped down following maladministration and financial mismanagement at the municipality. - Sapa
