No plans to fire Bok coaches

THE South African Rugby Union has refuted reports that members of Springbok rugby coach Peter de Villiers' management team face the axe.

THE South African Rugby Union has refuted reports that members of Springbok rugby coach Peter de Villiers' management team face the axe.

According to the reports, Bok forwards coach Gary Gold is in the firing line for lack of support to the national coach.

Saru spokesperson Andy Colquhoun said yesterday: "Peter has raised issues on leadership but there are no plans to fire anyone as stated in the newspaper report."

With the Rugby World Cup billed for New Zealand taking place in April and May next year, it would make sense that if De Villiers is unhappy with part of his coaching team, now would be the time to make changes.

A team management meeting is scheduled to take place on May 17 and 18 at which staffing matters are due to be discussed.
