THE stage is set for ambitious athletes who are after new records in the yearly Land of Legends Marathon at Thohoyandou Stadium tomorrow.

The event also features a half-marathon and 5km race. The 42,2km and 21,1km races start at 6am.

The marathon, which normally attracts local and foreign athletes, is a path to the international scene for many athletes, mainly Kenyans and Zimbabweans.

Race organisers said they were expecting many athletes who were eager to clinch a spot in the annual Two Countries Marathon that starts in Zimbabwe and ends in Musina. The winner of the 42,2km and the 21,1km races will automatically qualify for the Two Countries Marathon.
