"The practical and theory-based course includes point duty, safe stopping of vehicles, customer relations, traffic legislation, Criminal Procedure Act and general orientation," public safety MEC Howard Yawa said.
The course would take a week. About 700 officials have already been trained in customer service, street survival and crowd management, brake and tyre requirements and the Land Transportation Act.
"Eighty additional traffic officials (will) be trained in professional driving and high speed escort services for VIPs during the 2010 Fifa soccer World Cup," said Yawa. - Sapa
