United's communications manager David "Mazolman" Skosana said yesterday: "We are honoured to have been invited for a breakfast meeting with President Zuma and it will be a great honour for us to spend an hour with him. He is a busy man but he has decided to squeeze us into his hectic schedule. We are excited.
"President Zuma has noted our achievements in recent seasons and he wants to honour us for our feat in the Premiership. Our meeting with the president will definitely encourage the players to go all out to defend the league title."
Matsatsantsa will also hope that meeting the president will inspire them ahead of their crucial African Champions League third round, first-leg match against Nigeria's Heartland at Rand Stadium on Saturday night.
"It's the tough one against Heartland but we are playing at home and have to score as many goals as possible to make it easy for us in the return leg in Nigeria in a fortnight," said Skosana.
United is the only South African club remaining in the continental club tournaments after the early elimination of Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows. Pirates, the 1995 African Champions League winners, were bundled out in the opening round of the tournament by unfancied Gaborone United last month. Two weeks ago, Swallows were booted out of the Confederation Cup by Zimbabwean side Caps United.
