LIMPOPO MEC for health and social development Miriam Segabutla is embroiled in a bitter fight with her husband.
This after the MEC secured a court interdict to evict him from their marital home in Polokwane.
Segabutla, 49, has also moved out of the house she shared with Phillip Segabutla to live in a government-provided house.
The interdict bars her husband from entering the house they used to share in Flora Park. The estranged couple had been living separately for the past three months and the MEC had since filed for divorce.
Sowetan is also in possession of an interim protection order issued by the court against the 54-year-old husband.
The order bars him from entering the premises of the house he shared with his wife and daughter.
The order was issued in terms of Section 5(2) of the Domestic Violence Act 116 of 1998.
In the application for the order, granted on March 30 2010, the MEC claimed that her husband had defamed, humiliated and bad-mouthed her to an extent where she felt "unsafe and threatened" in his presence.
She further alleged that her public figure status was damaged and that her employment was endangered.
Her husband is employed as a public servant in the provincial department of sports, arts and culture.
The MEC claimed she had instituted divorce proceedings because he had initially instituted criminal proceedings against her for attempted murder.
But no details have been provided relating to the allegations.
The husband had subsequently been interdicted from making any contact with family members and relatives of his wife, officials and from discussing his wife's personal life with any of them.
Approached for comment yesterday the man confirmed he had been away from home for more than three months but refused to discuss the matter further.
