SOUTH Africans will celebrate the 2010 World Cup 50 days countdown today, but the University of the Witwatersrand will have theirs in Braamfontein tomorrow.

The event, which is also a partnership with Premiership side Bidvest Wits, will take place at Sturrock Park, which is an official training venue for the World Cup.

Bafana Bafana and Holland will use Sturrock Park in Braamfontein as their official training venue for the quadrennial soccer spectacle.

The facility is being upgraded by the Local Organising Committee as a World Cup legacy project to meet international requirements set by Fifa.

Former Bafana Bafana players who are with Wits, like Roger de Sa, Ashley Makhanya, Peter Gordon and Eric Tinkler, will also be part of the celebrations.

The national 50 days countdown celebration will take place in Kimberley today where President Jacob Zuma will deliver a keynote address. Zuma will be joined by LOC chairperson Irvin Khoza, chief executive Danny Jordaan and Safa president Kirsten Nematandani.
