LONDON - South African coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has criticised his own association for not arranging tougher friendlies for his team during their three-week training camp in Germany.

LONDON - South African coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has criticised his own association for not arranging tougher friendlies for his team during their three-week training camp in Germany.

Parreira wanted several testing games against top club sides but the association had secured matches against lower league opposition.

"I have asked for strong opponents but been told it's too late," he said at the camp in Herzogenaurach. "These practice matches are not ideal".

l Algeria coach Rabah Saadane has flown to Qatar to seek medical advice for his pre-World Cup training camp, consulting sports medicine specialists on fine-tuning his programme for preparations in the Swiss Alps, which start on May 13. He was especially seeking advice on training methods to maximise the effects of altitude, Algerian newspapers reported. - Reuters
