The driver of the car was burnt beyond recognition while a truck driver was critically injured. This was after three vehicles collided between Marianhill Toll Plaza and the Shongweni off-ramp.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks said the truck had ploughed into oncoming traffic, passed over a car and slammed into a petrol tanker.
In a separate accident, a truck driver died and another one was badly injured when two trucks collided head-on on the N3 near Balgowan in the Midlands. - Mhlaba Memela
