The opener was scheduled for today but Malawi did not arrive in Richards Bay as expected yesterday. NSA president Mimi Mthethwa said they had made all travel and accommodation arrangements for Malawi and that their tickets were confirmed on March 26.
"We are disappointed by Malawi's behaviour, considering that we have spent close to R500000 for the series, including R150000 for three umpires from New Zealand, England and Australia. Should Malawi fail to arrive today, we will send our complaint to the International Federation of Netball Associations, as the event was sanctioned by them," Mthethwa said. We have not received any formal cancellation from them, and we will engage our sports ministry for intervention.
"Our major concern is qualification for the Commonwealth Games and we believe their failure (to pitch) will be to our advantage. Should they arrive today, we will play the matches tomorrow."
