The match-up is between Sipho "Tsunami" Taliwe and Warren "The Warrior" Joubert. It will take place at Wembley Arena on Friday night.
It could bring back memories of super fights like the one between Sugar Ray Leonard and Thomas Hearns.
Taliwe from Aliwal North and Joubert from Johannesburg are young and fearless ring gladiators.
They have not disappointed fight fans since both turned professional back in 2004.
Both fighters are undefeated - Taliwe after 12 fights, with nine stoppages and Joubert after 16 fights, with 10 stoppages.
Their clash is for Taliwe's South African junior lightweight title.
It will be presented by promoter Reggie Hilman under the banner of Future Boxing Promotions.
Taliwe, who is trained in Westbury by Benny Pailman, Peter Faver and Cliff Martins, will bid for the first defence of his title.
They chose the Nick Durandt-trained Joubert.
The two camps enjoy a cordial relationship that will be suspended, albeit temporarily, on Friday night. Sazi Xamlashe will be the referee and the SABC has guaranteed love coverage of the bout on Blow by Blow from 10.30pm.
Taliwe and Joubert came face to face at the media briefing in Auckland Park yesterday.
Boxing SA acting chief Loyiso Mtya, who also heads the four-member sanctioning committee, said: "These are fights that we always strive for. A fight between a young black fighter against a young white fighter always produces fireworks, and this could be no exception."
Hilman and his promoter Mxolisi Gumede assured the paying public value for their money.
"All the bouts are evenly matched," assured Gumede.
The tournament could attract a capacity crowd, with the annual boxing convention taking place in Pretoria this weekend.
