SOUTH African Under-20 coach Eric Sauls has roped in two of Super 14's rising stars to beef up the squad ahead of the IRB Junior World Championships that will take place in Argentina from June 5 to 22.

The youngsters are wing Wandile Mjekevu of the Lions and Sharks fullback Patrick Lambie.

Both players gave a good account of themselves for their teams during Saturday's Super 14 derby at Ellis Park Stadium.

Also named as part of the team are scrumhalf Branco du Preez and winger Sampie Mastriet who play for Vodacom Cup side the Blue Bulls.

Flank Sam Mbombo, who formed part of the successful Maties squad that recently won the 2010 FNB Varsity Cup, will make his debut in the world championships.

Sauls is convinced that they have chosen a formidable squad capable of improving on last year's position in the same competition in Japan.

"We don't want to go to the World Championships and settle for third place again. We want to improve our position as a leading force on the junior international stage," said Sauls.

The team will be captained by the Vodacom Blue Bulls loose forward CJ Stander, who was part of the Baby Boks' 2009 World Championship campaign in Japan.
