Achmat was responding to a threat by SAZF to protest at the Sandton synagogue if Justice Richard Goldstone decided to attend his grandson's Bar Mitzvah.
Achmat released a press statement yesterday from the US, where he is currently on sabbatical, calling on the Chief Rabbi of South Africa, Dr Warren Goldstein, to "publicly denounce the fascist threat by the SAZF". - Anna Majavu and Sapa
