THREE more swimmers qualified for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the the final session of the SA Swimming Senior National Championships in Durban at the weekend.

Neil Versfeld swam probably his best swim since the 2008 Beijing Olympics where he finished ninth overall in the men's 200m breaststroke.

This time, Versfeld was content to swim his own race as Cameron van der Burgh set the pace over the first 100m, turning for the second in 1:02.79 with Versfeld in 1:03.73.

But it was Olympians Roland Schoeman and Gideon Louw who got the evening off to a flying start when they both again dipped under the qualifying time in the men's 50m freestyle.

They finished first and second respectively in 22.04 and 22.28, both perceptibly faster than in Friday night's semifinals.

Heerden Herman dominated one of the strongest line-ups for a 1500m freestyle final in this country.

It was to be his first senior title success with his winning time of 15:06.75 well under the qualifying time for the Games (15:13.16).

Second-placed Mark Randall of East London also qualified in a time of 15:09.75. - Sapa
