MEMBERS of transport workers' union Satawu employed at the Road Accident Fund say they will go on strike from today.

This will affect RAF offices in Johannesburg and Menlyn in Pretoria, the SA Transport and Allied Workers' Union said in a statement yesterday.

Satawu members working for the RAF in East London, Cape Town and Durban would, however, not strike yet, due to "logistical challenges". The strike was expected to start with a march to the transport department in Pretoria.

The Bloemfontein labour court on Tuesday ruled that the strike was legal and protected. Satawu is unhappy with the RAF's new operating model, which they fear could lead to job losses and changes in working conditions. - Sapa
