ANC gets it on Malema

THE ANC has got it right at last. Julius Malema should have been whipped into line as soon as he began spewing his arrogant and delinquent delirium.

THE ANC has got it right at last. Julius Malema should have been whipped into line as soon as he began spewing his arrogant and delinquent delirium.

When he wagged a finger at then minister of education Naledi Pandor we said that the ANC must act, lest they breed a gogga they could not control.

The ANC Youth League president had publicly said Pandor "must use her fake American accent to address the plight of students".

Motormouth Malema then cottoned on to hate speech, making a mockery of the ANC's declarations on race in its guiding document, the Freedom Charter.

He stoked up racial emotions so badly that diatribes by the right-wing AWB almost paled into insignificance.

The government's and all sensible South Africans' hit-and-miss efforts at reconciliation and racial harmony were going to come to nothing.

This expected result was because the ANC had spared the rod and allowed a maverick offspring to run amok.

The whole country, by virtue of the ANC's position as ruling party, was compromised.

Shockingly, President Jacob Zuma dismissed questions about Malema, condoning his divisive blubbering as the indiscretions of any young man.

Apparently, Juju is now in big trouble because, among other factors, he placed Zuma's integrity as the mediator in Zimbabwe in doubt by rubbishing the opposition Movement for Democratic Change and rooting for Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF.

This disciplinary hearing is long overdue.
