ANC alliance in drive to combat corruption

THE ANC and its alliance partners in KwaZulu-Natal have resolved to work together to fight corruption.

This was announced after a two-day summit in Durban at the weekend.

Senior members of the ANC, SACP, Cosatu and Sanco described the summit as honest and constructive.

All parties agreed that regular meetings were essential for the alliance partners to benefit.

ANC provincial chairperson Zweli Mkhize said: "The summit agreed that any form of corruption should be regarded and construed as counter- revolutionary. Thus we engaged jointly and as different organisations in a campaign to uproot corruption wherever it exists.

"We also agreed that the discussion on the deracialisation of the economy, within the context of the national democratic revolution, should constitute an integral part of the alliance political programmes. In the same vein parties must work on creative ways on joint political education classes."

SACP provincial secretary Themba Mthembu said the summit appreciated and recognised the effective and well functioning KZN alliance.

"We agreed that there are some inherent challenges that make it compulsory that we meet from time to time," he said.
