They get their chance for revenge at Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday, with kickoff at 8.15pm.
Zimba believes that the Team of Choice will go far in the tournament, the South African version of England's FA Cup.
The KwaZulu-Natal derby will be the second in 12 days for soccer fans from the province, after they saw an enterprising Soweto derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
That Telkom Knockout semifinal clash was held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Easter Monday.
Usuthu did well in that competition after they eliminated their neighbours .
"They (AmaZulu) advanced to the quarterfinals at our expense and it is our turn to take them out of the Nedbank Cup," a determined Zimba said yesterday.
"They beat us in their back yard, but now they are coming to us and they will not know what hit them on Saturday.
"I can't talk about us winning this Cup but I want to assure our supporters that we will go far in this competition. We don't want to end the season on a disappointing note by going out of the competition early," he said.
Zimba is likely to start in the absence of goal-poacher Fadlu Davids, who is nursing an injury.
Coach Ernst Middendorp will also miss injured Nigerian midfielder Felix Obada.
While Zimba and company fancy their chances of beating AmaZulu, they are likely to find Neil Tovey's side a hard nut to crack, especially in KwaZulu-Natal.
