Chuene was unceremoniously shown the door in November over the unresolved gender row involving our 800m world champion Caster Semenya.

Enter administrator Ray Mali and the promise of a better Athletics South Africa.

Five months on and athletes are up in arms against Mali and company. The new regime is now accused of a number of transgressions.

Former New York marathon winner Hendrik Ramaala - and other top stars - say they are being starved.

"Top athletes used to be paid a R3000 monthly stipend and that has suddenly stopped," they say.

Many still have to be paid for taking part in recent meetings.

There has been no explanation after the postponement of elections that were due this month.

Shame on you, Mr Mali. Our athletes deserve better.
