Electricity price hikes justify strike action

COSATU is justified to strike because of the negative consequences of a high tariff on electricity.

Cosatu is in the alliance with the ANC but we were never told that consumers would pay 34percent and 24percent increases within a year of Jacob Zuma's presidency.

The ANC "accepted" the decision of the energy regulator without any condemnation. Is this not a betrayal of the poor?

As workers, not only do we see enrichment of the ANC elite but even that of the President, ministers and national executive committee members.

A high electricity tariff is a huge burden on retrenched workers, the unemployed, workers and emerging BEE companies.
