Sanzar floors Kabamba

THE Cheetahs suffered a blow when their No 8 Kabamba Floors was yesterday suspended for five weeks after he was found guilty of performing a dangerous tackle on Brumbies fullback Julian Huxley in their Super 14 game in New Zealand on Saturday.

South Africa-New Zealand Australia (Sanzar) rugby alliance confirmed yesterday.

"Sanzar judicial officer Dennis Wheelahan, QC, heard the case on yesterday morning at Brumbies Rugby in Canberra, upholding the charge.

"Wheelahan said he hoped the length of the censure would act as a general deterrent, given the increasing number of dangerous tackles that are similar in nature to that which has seen Floors suspended, that are occurring in Super 14," said Sanzar's media release.

The five matches Floors will miss out include Crusaders in New Zealand, Chiefs in Hamilton, Blues and Western Force which will both played in Bloemfontein and the Lions in Kimberley.
