ARROGANT Vladimir Vermezovic has left his triumphant Kaizer Chiefs players to bask in the Telkom Knockout win glory while he plans a blitz on the upcoming Nedbank Cup.
Having endured a barrage of criticism to their cup final tie against Ajax Cape Town on Saturday night, Vermezovic finally got to react to reports of his arrogance.
"My players have been reading newspaper stories that I'm arrogant, but if trusting my players is arrogance, then yes, I'm arrogant," Vermezovic said.
"Even when I scream and shout at them, they know I'm backing them. This victory is a first major step to bigger things to come. We'll be challenging for league honours next season. Why not? I'm arrogant."
Vermezovic has already cast his eye on the R6million Nedbank Cup prize .
"Perhaps we'll play Ajax again in the final. They play good football and I'd really like to play them again," he said.
Vermezovic's ambition has him focused on the continent.
"Our main aim is to be champions of Africa," the Serb emphatically said.
Vermezovic's confidence certainly stems from the fact that he has successfully wrestled the Telkom Knockout trophy away from the Urban Warriors.
It wasn't so much of a wrestling match, though, as the Soweto giants simply bullied Fopp De Haan's side into submission.
Yet for a successful onslaught on the forthcoming Nedbank Cup, Vermezovic would have to pray for the likes of Mandla Masango and Punch Masenamela to maintain their rich vein of form.
Masango got his second goal of the tournament when he put Amakhosi in the lead midway through the first half.
Masenamela was also in the act when he sent Knowledge Musona through for the second goal just after the restart.
Substitute Diyo Sibisi pulled one back for Ajax.
