Moneylender shot dead during row

A MONEYLENDER was shot dead during an argument with a man owing him money.

The incident happened in KaNyamazane township outside Nelspruit on Saturday afternoon.

Patrons were enjoying a braai, music and liquor in one of the usually packed bar lounges in the township when there was sudden gunfire shortly after 4pm.

In the ensuing fracas a gunman was seen waving down a minibus taxi with his gun hidden inside his pants while a man, believed to be a moneylender, lay dead in a pool of blood.

When police arrived on the scene minutes later they were told that the dead man had been arguing with another man over money owed to him.

Mpumalanga organised crime unit spokesperson Captain Leonard Hlathi yesterday said: "We are investigating a case of murder and we are looking for the suspected gunman.

"Anyone with information should immediately call the nearest police."
