Bahumi, representing Gauteng, thumped Mpumalanga's Mologadi FC 5-1 in their final match of the Vodacom national playoffs at Themba Senamela Stadium in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, on Friday.
Speaking to Sowetan after their triumph, FC AK's chief executive Gene Petersen said: "It feels good to be back in the National First Division (NFD) after only one season in the Vodacom Promotional League (VPL) and I must say it was not easy, though.
"We started our VPL campaign by signing 12 youngsters in line with the new Safa rule that clubs must field a minimum of five Under-21 players.
"They were complemented by experienced campaigners like Elasto Kapowezha, Khanyisa Zondi, Kirk Leray and Thando Mkhonza. Our plan is to beef up the team by signing a few players in all departments.
"Our aim is to spent only one season in the NFD and we want to see ourselves playing in the Premiership the following season.
"As management, we have big plans for the team and the first one is to play in the (Absa) Premiership because that is were we belong. "
Petersen added that they will retain coach Jerobiem Koert and his assistants, Grant Fernandez and Thomas Kujo.
FC AK, who will continue to play their games at Eldorado Park Stadium, finished their group top of the log on seven points.
