The Messi-ah

THE Spaniards were greeted yesterday morning by newspaper headlines fittingly hailing the phenomenal Lionel Messi.

THE Spaniards were greeted yesterday morning by newspaper headlines fittingly hailing the phenomenal Lionel Messi.

"A fearless Musketeer!" "Supernatural Messi!" "The Master of Europe!" screamed headlines of some of the major Spanish newspapers after the 22-year-old World Player of the Year's four-goal heroics bundled out a befuddled Arsenal in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Argentinian, who had another mesmerising game in the first leg at the Emirates, is the only player in the world who can seemingly score with his eyes closed. He has an unfair advantage over opposition because he has an almost supernatural ability to anticipate a defenders' next move.

His ability to position himself well off the ball and his well-timed passes are awe-inspiring and make him a rare breed.

How we wish our misfiring Bafana Bafana could have a player of Messi's talent!
