Rapist gives nieces disease

Police arrested a 21-year-old Mpumalanga man for allegedly raping his two nieces, aged nine and 10, and infecting them with the sexually transmitted "cauliflower disease".

The farm labourer was arrested yesterday at work and is expected to appear in the Piet Retief magistrate's court today on charges of rape.

The unemployed mother of the girls is appealing to the public for help to save the lives of the two children.

The girls, from Houtkop Border Post in Piet Retief, between Mpumalanga and Swaziland, shared a bedroom with the alleged perpetrator.

"I am appealing to the public to help. Any person or institution can help, be it with medical treatment, finance or finding a cure for the children so as to improve their quality of life," said the distraught mother.

She may be reached via Constable Dudu Vilakazi of the Piet Retief police on 017-826-9500 during office hours.

Meanwhile, Piet Retief police also arrested a 56-year-old man for the alleged rape of his 11-year-old orphaned granddaughter on Tuesday.
