REIGNING world 800m champion Mbulaeni "Bullet" Mulaudzi is primed for another gold medal, this time at the African Senior Track and Field Championships in Kenya.

Mulaudzi made his intentions clear after winning the final leg of the Yellow Pages Series at Germiston Stadium on Tuesday night. The Athens Olympics silver medallist produced a quality finish in his specialist event to clock 1min:45.41sec - inside the Commonwealth qualifying mark of 1:46.60.

"I had a great race. I wanted to dip under 1:45 but the wind made it a bit difficult for me. I always run well in Germiston, but for me the feeling of the track is not the best," Mulaudzi said.

"There is no break despite the fact that the South African track and field (season) is over for me. I will continue training hard for the championships in Kenya. The plan is to do well in Kenya; I want to be in the African team at the World Cup. So far, so good in my performance since the start of the season."

Speaking from the Ackerville Stadium, where he went to watch Black Leopards against Mpumalanga Black Aces, Mulaudzi said he will also compete in the Commonwealth Games in India in October.

Back to Tuesday's meet, Ofentse Mogawane easily won the 400m event in 45.51 - faster than the Commonwealth qualifying time of 45.78. In the hammer event, Chris Harmse threw a distance of 75,36m - over the Commonwealth qualifying mark of 74,35m.

The other athletes who have qualified for the Commonwealth Games include Louis Van Zyl (400m hurdles), Cornel Fredericks (400m), Ruben Ramolefi (3000m), Hardus Pienaar (javelin), Tumelo Thagane (triple jump) and Khotso Mokoena (long jump).
