The Bucs strongman suffered extensive damage to his anterior cruciate ligament and though he is expected to recover by next month, a source close to the player said he had decided to allow the injury to heal properly.
Baron was one of the tried and tested players coach Carlos Alberto Parreira wanted to include in the World Cup squad. He played a pivotal role in helping SuperSport United win their third successive Premiership title this season.
The talented short-stopper suffered the injury while on tour to Brazil with Bafana last month. He returned home immediately for treatment.
