Bamuza joins Wits

BIDVEST Wits have acquired the services of relegated Jomo Cosmos' attacking midfielder Bamuza "Scara" Sono.

BIDVEST Wits have acquired the services of relegated Jomo Cosmos' attacking midfielder Bamuza "Scara" Sono.

Sowetan learnt that the transfer deal between representatives of the two clubs was clinched in Johannesburg yesterday.

Sono junior will meet Wits administrative bosses tomorrow to discuss personal terms. Also joining the Clever Boys from Ezenkosi is winger Thabiso Hlalele. Premiership big spenders Mamelodi Sundowns are set to sign Cosmos winger Bongani Theletsane today.

Wits have also signed Ugandan international Geoffrey Serunkuma, but denied that Jeffrey Ntuka was on his way to Braamfontein from Kaizer Chiefs.

"Geoffrey has signed a two-year deal. As for Ntuka, he is not coming here," said Wits director George Mogotsi.

He said head coach Roger de Sa was accompanying Brazilian striker Fabricio Rodrigues to Danish giants FC Brondby, who were impressed by the player during the Peter Mokaba Cup in February.

After dumping Brazilian Eder Richartz this week, Free State Stars are set tooffload his compatriot Fabio Marinho at the end of the season.

"You can't keep foreign players who are not adding value to the team, they played two to four games," said Stars chairperson Mike Mokoena.

Mokoena also announced that they have offered well-travelled striker Paulos Masehe a new deal that will keep him at Ea Lla Koto until 2013.

Regarding their search for a coach, Mokoena said: "We have two or three top foreign coaches who we are going to interview in the next two weeks.

"Kinnah Phiri is out of the picture after signing a new deal with the Football Association of Malawi, while Herve Renard has also turned us down after initially agreeing to join Stars. Herve has informed us that he agreed terms with another national team on the continent after quitting Zambia (on Tuesday)."

Frenchman Renard, who was also linked to Sundowns, guided Chipolopolo to the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Angola in February.

Moroka Swallows are chasing Zimbabwean Oscar Machapa from Caps United, who eliminated them from the African Confederations Cup.

But Ajax Cape Town have snatched the services of Caps United midfielder Tefadzwa Rusike away from Swallows.
