A MAN has been held for murder 17 years after he escaped from custody for another case, KwaZulu-Natal police said yesterday.

A MAN has been held for murder 17 years after he escaped from custody for another case, KwaZulu-Natal police said yesterday.

"We arrested Lamlani Khumalo for murder in Umhlali. He allegedly connived with a man to kill his wife in Bhamshela, north of Durban, on March 2," said Superintendent Vincent Mdunge.

Khumalo had escaped from custody for another case in 1993. The man who worked in cahoots with Khumalo to allegedly kill his wife is still at large. - Sapa
