Mazembe captain Tresor Mputu and Kabangu Patou scored in Kinshasa on Sunday to see the Congolese team through.

Former winners Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast were eliminated after a 1-1 draw with Zambia's Zanaco in Abidjan. Zanaco won the two-leg series 2-1 on aggregate.

Mali champions Djoliba AC beat Senegal's ASC Linguere 4-3 on penalties on Monday after their tie ended 1-1. Angola's Petro Atletico Luanda, Dynamos of Zimbabwe, Sudan's Al Hilal and Nigerian club Heartland FC also reached the third round. - Sapa-AP
