KWAITO one-hit wonder Pantsula was released on bail yesterday after spending almost five days at the Midrand police station.

Pantsula, real name Cornelius Mtshixa, and his friends allegedly failed to foot a R300 alcohol bill at DJ Oskido's Kalawa Jazzmee Lounge in Carlswald, Midrand.

Pantsula, 18, was left alone to settle the bill after his three friends fled the pub and raced off. Pantsula is contracted under 999 Music Records, owned by kwaito mogul Arthur Mafokate.

He was released on R500 bail and is expected to appear in court again in two weeks' time.

Midrand police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said Pantsula was apprehended on Friday for theft of alcohol.

"When he failed to pay the bill the police were called in to arrest him," Maphakela said.

Mafokate said he was unaware his artist had languished in jail.
