TWO former Bafana Bafana players, Benjamin Reed and John Tlale, have guided Winter Roses to the Safa Vodacom League national playoffs after winning the Free State title.

The playoffs will be played in Mpumalanga from today until April 11 where all the nine provincial championships will be on display to determine the two teams that will be promoted to the National First Division next year.

The matches will be played at Ackerville Stadium in eMalahleni and Themba Senamela in Mhluzi. All the participating clubs are required to field a minimum of five Under-23 players to assist in the development of soccer in the country.

Safa competitions director Balebetse Monnakgotla said Roses, who also include former professional players Thiyekile "Ace" Gulwa and Patrick Setlai, will feature in the coastal stream during the playoffs.

"We have two streams during the playoffs - coastal and inland. The National Soccer League has taken a decision that Free State clubs in the National First Division will campaign in the coastal stream. We have decided that Winter Roses, by virtue of being the winners of Free State, will play in the coastal stream during the playoffs."

Reed said: "We are excited to have qualified and we are going to put up a big fight in Witbank.

"We want to see ourselves in the First Division next season."
