THE Durban University of Technology (DUT) has warned that it will not hesitate to close its doors indefinitely if students protest today.

The new term starts this morning. Acting DUT vice-chancellor Nqabomzi Gawe said management would be forced to close the institution if there were protests.

The university closed early last term after violent protests. More than 60 students were arrested and charged with crimes that included public violence.

Student representative council leaders are banned from the institution pending the outcome of their court case.
