Smart teen needs a helping hand

LUVO Gila is a smart teenager with a great future ahead of him.

Gila, 17, of Kensington, Johannesburg, is a Grade 12 pupil at Jeppe High School for Boys.

He has been chosen as one of the very few young people to represent South Africa at the Global Young Leaders Conference in Washington DC.

About 20 South African pupils have been chosen for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The conference will take place from June 20 to July 3 this year under the theme Nations' interdependence in world trade and economics.

Delegates to the conference are selected on academic excellence and intellectual aptitude.

The conference is organised by the Congress for Global Young Leaders. Every continent on the globe will be represented.

But Gila needs R120000 to pay for flights, accommodation and registration at the conference.

"I need somebody who will donate the money and make my dream come true," Gila said.
