POLICE are investigating the murder of an 80-year-old woman who was found with her hands and feet tied at her home in Potchefstroom, in North West, yesterday.

Provincial spokeswoman Captain Adele Myburgh said the body of Helina Kotze was found in her bedroom.

The woman had been living alone in her house in the centre of the city when she was attacked.

Her throat had been slit and her wrists and knees were tied with kitchen napkins and adhesive tape.

Kotze's body was discovered by a man delivering food to her.

"When the man found the food he had delivered on Monday untouched he entered the house and found the body in the bedroom," Myburgh said.

Police found no signs of forced entry. Kotze was believed to have been killed between Sunday evening and the early hours of Monday.
